Using a Macro filter with a compact camera

I have a Samsung WB600 compact camera, and have a mount to be able to use filters with it. I am looking at some Macro/close up filters (x1, x2, x4 and x10), but wonder if they would actually be of any use, and the camera already has a macro setting. Am I right in thinking they are most useful for an SLR that does not have a macro lens or macro ability?

I've used a +2 and a +3 together on a Nikon 60mm macro lens with great results. Just remember the DOF will be very small.
