Hi Bob its not all in the camera but in the way you take the image, I have a friend that shoots on a sony cyber shot and his images would beat a lot of pro images

I agree, it's not the equipment you use, but your skill in using a camera that makes your images extra special and your editing skills too.....

Yup. Everyone's right, it's the photographer, not the camera... doesn't stop you wanting a better camera though!

Disposable income.A businessman with the cash will buy a Nikon D3X or a Canon 1d's mark lll.
A person who loves photography and wants an active hobby will want a DSLR.Point and shoots are getting better.Camera phones are getting more pixels but the creative pleasure you will get out of a DSLR will amaze yourself and friends when you get to grips with the basic functions.
I still get odd looks from the public when out shooting with a tripod but i don't give a stuff.I like to be in control and why take a chance, even with an image stabilizer,on controlling camera shake.
£2000 will buy you CANON 50D +24-105mm L.You will also need adobe photo-editing software.Elements 6.0 is ok for starters.
