D90 remote timer

I've been looking to buy one of these timer remotes ( from SHOOT or LCD or APUTURE ) but there seems to be a lot of reviews complaining about the plug damaging the socket on the camera , now I'm only reading the reviews for the Nikon D90 compatible version so if anyone has any experience with this problem I would be very grateful to hear about it .

Many thanks.

Mark

I've been using the Aputure version for some time now. very good low cost remote. Only problem I find is the battery runs down very fast on the sender unit, so you need to remove the battery when not in use.

However I use a Canon so have no experience of the Nikon.

Thanks a lot for your comments Harry , as you say most of the reviews I have read are very good for such a cheap third party item and the absents of an on/off button has been mentioned a number of times so thanks for your tip on that , but my biggest concern is the reported problem with the plug damaging the socket on the body of the D90 .

Might just have to bite the bullet buy one and be very careful , fingers crossed .

Right just got my Shoot remote timer so if anyone is thinking about getting one themselves I can say that the one I have is a great bit of kit , very straight forward to use and my concerns about the plug damaging the camera socket were totally unfounded .

The Shoot is identical to the Aputure version I have - same item different name at the top.

As you say very straight forward to use. I am off to Cape Town in a few weeks time and I'm hoping to get some good sequences from the top of Table Mountain.

The manual is obviously one thing they did not copy across.

I have been looking for howlers since you mentioned it but the translation from Chinese is fine in the Aputure manual.
