Great win Dan, loved the image, however i must ask now that the votes are in and poll closed, did you intentionally make every vertical line of the frame a different size?
Not sure if anyone else noticed this? as for the image i thought that it was great but as questioned above the framing spoilt it for me.

are they?? they look right to me - it might just be the contrasting colours making it look like that??

Well done dan! I really like your kiwis and lemon entry and was very close to voting for it. The only downside for me was that the first 2 images were very similar and of the same set of slices. Maybe rotating one of them would have done it. Had to be picky though since there were lots of great entries.

Above: Cutter - RedKite
Brilliant shot of a Red Kite and the frame gave it a really dynamic feel. For me though, this was a shot that I need to see in it's entirety without losing bits in the frame.

Below: DigiDiva - Life is short
Really nice idea which took some planning I imagine. My only critism is that I would have liked the flower to have been positioned identically in each shot and drooping in the frame rather than always central - so you got a feeling of it dying down [does that make sense?]. I think you've done a great job though and will try something like this myself one day.

My vote went to Wavemachine's Beauty. I loved the simplicity of the macroshots, the perfect blooms, the water droplets on the central frame and the text that had maching colours. Altogether a really nice ready made card!

Thanks for my votes deena and Reinardina :-)

Dan,

Saved the pic in photoshop and taken a copy of the left hand edge and overlayed it on the right, also took a copy of the verticle of the fist picture fram (right hand side) and overlayed it onto the second picture right hand side frame. To me all the verticle frame sizes are different.
Is it my eyes, is it my computor or is it optical????????? do you see what i mean????????
Not saying that mine is perfect mind you.

Hi, ups, downs, comments etc.....

Up - Pea 24's "Trees in Flood" - I liked the image but felt it lacked a little punch. Sorry, just not up to your usual standard for me.

Down - Kerbside's "Bridging the Gorge" - a lovely, moody image but not sure it fitted the tryptych treatment. Would have been much better as one image. Like Pea said about Cutter's Red Kite, you needed to see the image with no breaks.

Oh dear, not good comments from me this week. Really sorry.

I was a little confused by some of the entries as I was of the understanding from reading about tryptych's that each image should tell a story, hence my not splitting one image in three but taking 3 seperate images that linked some how. I may have that wrong, and if so I apologise and it means my comments about Kerbside's image are wrong.

Thanks to clickin girl and Muckyboy for my votes. Much appreciated. I found this months technique very difficult and I actually cried in frustration over it. I didn't use a pre made tryptych frame as wanted to do the frame myself as a layer. I'm just learning and understanding layers and they still don't make a lot of sense! This is the reason why I started the monthly competitions as I didn't feel I was learning as fast as I wanted. I needed a push. Since then (I think November was the 1st one) I have learned LOADS!!!!!!!

Thank's Pea for your comments. Had I done the technique right, I would have left the camera and tripod where it was for 2 weeks and ensured the lighting was the same etc in each image. However I didn't think hubby wanterd a camera and tripod in the bedroom next to the door for 2 weeks till the rose died! That is why, as you said, the flower didnt drop each time. A silly mistake that I should have pre-empted.

My vote went to Dan 123's Kiwis & Lemons - an idea similar to one I had. Though I voted for it (it really appealed to me and made my mouth water) I'm still not sure it met what I interpreted as 'telling a story'.

Only my comments and hope no one takes them badly.

Looking forward to the next theme.

CHRIS, tryptich comes from Greek meaning 3 folds so both interpretations are correct, one pic split into 3 or 3 separate pictures with a common theme.

We are all here to learn, that's what it is all about.

I actually liked your rose thought it was well shot, and I could not of waited for 2weeks to get the 3pictures, far to impatient.
