best monitor for viewing and editing photos

My monitor's on the blink. Have been advised that a monitor using IPS panel technology is the best for viewing and editing photos. These come at a price. Any suggestions on one that would come close to this at a more reasonable price?

Have a look at the Samsung range, which are fairly priced and well made. I have two one of which is nine years old and they work a treat. Samsung also make the monitors for Eizo and LeCie.

Can i suggest having a look at hd tv's,just the small 19inch ones.may i also sugest checking what output your graphics card is using.if its a new card,it may have a hdmi output, which means you'll get better picture quality.

Hope this helps, but as i see from the date, you may have already bought a new monitor.
