Take your pick. My local Staples don't sell anything like these. The first one I linked to (below) does the job perfectly well unless you need the fast turn-around for business use.

Thank you for taking a look for me, but they are all way too expensive. I mean my budget is £35.

I should also have said that the trimmer she is using is not a rotary trimmer, it uses a blade to cut the aperture but the blade can be raised/lowered so that cuts can be 'blind'. The first model I linked to also uses the same system.

I've just rung a few local craft stores, they sell cutting mats ( rubber self-healing mat) with a handle and ruler etc for £12. I just need to buy a stanley knife to actually make the cut. Do you think they are worthwhile, or would it be easy to make a mess of it ?

How will you hold the blade at a 45 degree angle? Your cut-outs will have vertical cuts and won't look very professional.

if you look on ebay you will see cheaper versions at about £30.00 if you dont fancy Ebay then google it and see what else is available

if you want your matt to have a square cut then a craft knife and ruler will do nicely but you are unlikely to be able to cut a long bevel freehand
