Leaving comments on news articles

I've tried twice now to leave comments on news articles. Once on photographer of the year to congratulate Lee Jefferies and once on the squirrel article from yesterday. I get a popup telling me I have to have my comments approved. I know its probably a good idea to get first comments approved because of spam but who checks them? One comment was posted last week. I know its been a busy time and hopefully I can be approved to make comments in the new year.

Right now, probably no one! It will most likely be the new community editor when they are hired/start.
