Too much sky

Evening all

I did this one last week but not sure it works with so much sky.

It looks about 2/3 sky to land, but I think it may be the large clouds that is making you think that. If they were broken up more. Still, lovely shot dow the hill into a valley.

Thanks for that. I'm still in two minds about this one.

Anyone else?

Hi Jools

Personally I think that this view would look more balanced as a 2/3 land to 1/3 sky shot but I have a different query about this image and the one posted in the landscape thread .
You have the hills running down from the left hand side which form a natural frame but then the image is just cut off on the right with no natural end which just makes it look like a bad crop job , now only you will know how the rest of the scene looked so this may well be the best crop for the image but I'm still left with the feeling that it's missing a large chunk from the right hand side .

As always this is just my take on your image and I know that you'll take it as it's meant , with honest interest .

Mark

Thanks Mark

I do have a landscape version of this with more showing on either side. However, I've sent it off to my contact at Digital Camera Mag, so I'm a little reluctant to post it.

BUT. I may post an outtake from it

Well, this was taken a few photos later. It is wider than the one sent to the mag. It also includes some of the foreground.

You can see how quickly the sky had changed too. We had 80mph gusts of winds to work in!

It's definitely a great view! Just wish that I had more time in the area.

Going to see if I can fix that in 2012, especially as I have an idea for something in that area

The sky works very well for me though there seems to be a bit of a colour cast to it?
