Congratulations to you both, Kerbside and Pea. Two cracking shots that I deliberated between for nearly 2 days. In the end i went for Pea's shot with the patterns and leading my eye through the scene rather than Jeff's wonderful treatment which transforms an ordinary street scene into something quite special. Well done to both of you on your interpretation of the theme.

And that concludes my ups and downs also.

I was also impressed with TwinnieE's bath effort and other than for the noise in the mid and darker tones it might have got my vote. I presume you used a tripod for your 1/8s exposure, so why not drop the ISO right down and go for an even longer one? If you didn't use a tripod, then you should have! (Only a suggestion to improve a minor crit in an otherwise good image. )

Thanks for my vote Pea. At least I can say I was in a winner sandwich!

Again, like Chris a beautiful portrait but the light source i feel needed to be a light source with the bokeh rather than a portrait with the bokeh.
Thanks for the crit Jeff, much appreciated. I know what you mean, but the bokeh was the light sources, Christmas tree lights very out of focus. I didn't say anything in the brief about the light source having to be the main subject or even in focus.

Looking forward to the next theme.

Cheers, Sie

Jeff and Dave congratulations on your shared win.

My vote went to Jeff, but it was a hard choice.

Glad I don't have to do ups 'n downs!

Hi Sie
Thanks for your advice. I used a chair not a tripod and the ISO was set to 800.
Hoping to get a tripod for Christmas!
It was my first attempt with my new 40D and I'm getting the hang of it now.
Glad you liked it, it made Explore on flickr! Just saying!

Thanks
TwinnieE

Another great shot and bang on theme, there was a nice atmosphere and it was well lit, nicely focused and exposed, I like this shot a lot only minor crits are maybe it would have worked slightly better if the candle was positioned more to the right and I found the mark on the table to the left of the map distracting. I am a picky sod I know but it shows that it is a good shot when you find yourself looking at all the detail.

As always just my opinions.

As for my entry it was a bit of fun, I did struggle with this and I didn't expect any votes so wasn't dissapointed

Roll on the next theme so I can try to do better.
That mark is from the sticker off a Tesco pasta snack pot....I will pursue Tesco for damages!!...lol!! Fair points though and as always, duely noted for future reference.

Congrats Pea24 and Kerbside, it was a hard choice between the two, but I loved the "razzle dazzle" of Kerbsides shot.....

Oh I'm back home now! The afternoon Ferry was cancelled (found out yesterday from a text sent by Calmac)....so had to get up at 5am to get the 7am crossing, which didn't turn up until 0830....and the crossing??!! 3hrs of shake, rattle and roll.....lucky I dont get sea sick. Gotta head back out in this storm to pick Tammy up from work.....flooding, trees at breaking point, house lights flashing.....pure mayhem out there.....

I was really chuffed.
Just checking to see what the new theme will be.
Hope it's easier than the last one!

Was thinking of you while watching the news. Expected you to be trapped in/on Stornoway. Glad you made it home safely. Hope you get the Missus home safely too!
