I had a D80 for a few years and loved it, a great camera.

I only upgraded to the D90 to get the automatic sensor cleaner and Live View, which is useful on odd occasions.

I used to shoot with a D40. Me and my son (who has a D3000) went to watch the Rallye de France and while we were moving from one spot to another, I tripped (didn't lift my leg high enough over a fallen branch, stiff knees after having them both replaced) and fell straight on my D40 lens. So I'm now waiting for news of the new D800 to replace the old but trustworthy D40 with.

What Nikon do you shoot with?

I have recently inherited my late father's D80. My first SLR but I love using it. went on a Wildfire Photography Beginners Course in Northampton - excellent. Just wished I had more time.

I mainly use a D700 and D300s but have D90 and P7000 for the times I want to travel a bit lighter. My first Nikon digital was the D50 which I still have and use.

From time to time I still use film. Best of my Nikons for this is the FM2, old and very battered but still a joy to use.

Angry What Nikon Do You Shoot With?

I bought a DSLR from Nikon having had a Nikon F3 (film camera and Pentax ME-Suer in the past. The one I chose was the D3000 which was very good for the price, but am now saving for the D700 despite Nikon saying there are safety issues with the camera and stopped manufacturing it or supplying it anymore! I'm new to photography and after extensive searching, reading customer and professional reviews bought the D3100 in December 2011.

Thumbs up Put me in the new category

After years of lugging around the big iron, and after two spinal fusions, I have retired the D3s, D300s, D200s and switched to the V1. My bag is now 30 pounds lighter and I have what I consider to be a great camera. I use three V1 bodies, one with the 10-30 Nikon 1 lens, one with the 30-110 Nikon 1 lens and the third with the LT1 lens mount adapter and my Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VRII attached. That gives me the full frame equiv. of 27mm to 540mm, and if I throw on my Nikkor 2.0 extender, I can push it to 1080mm at f/5.6.

I shoot professionally for three automobile magazines and am the Motorsports editor of one. I hang in three art galleries and compete with 5 different photo clubs and since switching over to the V1 have found that I am selling more work and getting more "wins" in competition. I suspect it is because I am able to shoot with less pain from my back due to the lighter weight. Whatever the reason, I am certainly not going back to big iron anytime soon.

Wes

Wow! I thought D40 to D7000 was some leap!
