Untitled

Chimpanzee sits deep in thought and alone in it's enclosure at Chester zoo. Its pose and posture could have been that of any human being and it reminded me where we have come from. With that in mind it made me sad that we have to cage these animals and they cannot roam wild for fear of being hunted by a species so close to their own. I used a high iso indoors and to work with the inevitable noise I added grain and scratches to the shot.

i think the B&W conversion works well even if it was to hide the noise

i'm not sure if he/she looks deep in thought or just bored out of it's skull either way it gave you the opportunity to take this very nice photo
if i'd gone to chester zoo and came away with that photo i would be a happy man ( i'd still be whinging about the entrance fee )

Isolated him/her well and the treatment sits well with the subject (pun intended! )

I'm no fan of zoos either although there's undoubtedly some good conservation work being done for some species

Thanks for the feedback :-) I have an annual membership for the zoo so can go everyday if I want without having to pay out :-) Its worked out so much cheaper, after 5 visits it paid for itself.

Thanks, Mark :-)

There's good and bad zoos, thankfully Chester is one of the better ones.

Cracking shot Karen and great processing work. Looks like a photo from the fifties published in the newspapers at that time.

Thanks, Oldboy :-) I was going for a shot that mimicked the daguerreotype process so added scratches and spots etc.. I am glad you spotted it was supposed to look old :-)
