Just a little query, well not little to some people. On BBC prog a scammer gets 4 years for scamming £80,000 from an old lady,but no mention is made of the money. Is the money taken from the scammers account ? If not then who said crime does not pay.

The answer is, it depends, the court have the power to do a financial investigation into the assets of the thief and can, in some instances, take money, property or assets from them to pay the victim.

whether the court does this, or whether the person has any assets or whether the court enforces it, is another matter
