You get better deals for students getting the full version cs5. Elements 10 is bundled with premier for students at £72. Cs5 extended is £166 non student version £500! Adobe lightroom 3 is better value then elements for students at £58 http://www.studica.com/Adobe

That's extraordinary!

Amazon is knocking out Elements 10 for £61 and 9 for about £50, although for the extra tenner I'd get 10. I don't know if I'd recommend CS5.5, even at the discount price, it's not as friendly as Elements, and Elements will do pretty well everything you could wish for.

PS. Amazon are selling S/H copies of Elements 6 for under £10, but that's probably not worth thinking about unless you're on a really tight budget.

Just remembered.

You can download a full working version of Elements for free for 30-day trial from the Adobe website. If you like it, pay for it and they'll send you a key to unlock it.

I've never used anything else except photoshop CS so i can't compare. I do most of my editing in adobe raw 6. It's worth the money just for that program alone. CS is not that difficult i promise and there are plenty of tutorials around.

You can get almost all, if not all, those features in Lightroom. I bought Lightroom to get the extra RAW editing for less than the cost of CS.

CS5 for students £166 is very tempting though don't you think?

Hi Robert,
Don't get me wrong. I use CS5 as well, but having played with Elements 9 (which also allows processing of RAW files), I'm hard pressed to figure out why there should be such a massive price difference between the two.
I didn't get the benefit of any student discount and paid the full whack. If I was to have the opportunity over again I would buy Elements with no hesitation at all.

Sorry for late reply. Been on holiday and just got back. I have read about Elements 10 and I am probably going to opt for that. Thanks for the help guys.

welcome back DD if you are looking to get a PC I would look to do it soon as there is about to be a hard disk shortage, Seagate and Toshibas factories were wrecked by the floods in Thailand, a couple of weeks ago a 1TB drive was around £39 the same drive is now just over £120. It looks like supply will be affected well into 2012.

Just thought I would mention it.
