Hi folks im new here and sort of found the forum by accident . we were out shopping on saturday and looked into the newsagents, hey presto a copy of the mag . Ive really enjoyed the read over the past few days and decided to subscribe, Ive been using Nikon gear exclusivley for around 4yrs now and cant fault anything ive used so now I can pick up a mag that deals with the system I use and without being crammed with page upon page of ads for all the other makes out there .

Unhappy So far.... Maybe not so good?

Dear All

Four months in and I have to say I am disappointed.

My main reason for this is the very small amount of information regarding Capture NX2.
As I said at the start, there is very little tutorial available for this software and I was really hoping that a "purely" Nikon based magazine would redress the balance. So far - two pages per issue. Which wouldn't be too bad if there wasn't so many more pages on Adobe RAW, Adobe Photoshop, etc etc. I wouldn't care but the BEST RAW conversion program for Nikon NEF files is Capture NX2 so why are we suffering articles on Adobe RAW? I expected it in "Digital Camera" magazine who have been obsessive for many years on Adobe programs, but I thought this was a Nikon focused publication?
If I wanted to learn about Adobe Photoshop etc. every other camera magazine in the shop is crammed full with it, in fact I can buy several specialist publications that cover nothing else!
Is Capture NX2 so unloved? I love it anyway, I just wish I could learn more about its more hidden treasures.....

For a specialist Nikon mag I think the bar has been set a bit low, I realise that it must appeal to a wider audience but we've already made a decision to shoot Nikon haven't we so I guess we've got a vague idea about aperture, shutter haven't we? Whilst not wishing to make the mag elitist ( perish the thought in this day and age) perhaps it could lift it's sights a little bit..... possibly?

Finally, having shelled out my annual subscription up front, if I want to read the mag on my IPad I have to pay all over again????
This has to be one of the most cynical pieces of marketing I have come across.

I did make these points at Focus on Imaging NEC 2012 at the magazine stand but the ladies just smiled and looked at me as though I was a bit sad............

Maybe I am, Oh Dear

Best wishes
A disappointed subscriber......
DH Dove

So - N-Photo Magazine, please pull your socks up and treat us as proper photography enthusiasts......otherwise you're just another " learn how to shoot landscapes " mag

Thumbs up congrads and good luck to your new mag.

Just wanted to wish you well on your new endeavor. Love UK photo magazines, they still have the awe and enthusiasm of the enthusiast. A friend in California keeps sending me his copies of various magazines including photo plus. He shoots with a canon (shudder!) I am a crazed Nikon. loved your canon magazine especially the concept of pairing up a pro with an amateur. Was hoping for a Nikon version, glad you did it. Can an Olympus,Sony and pentax mags be far behind? Would love to subscribe but 2 and a half years of unemployment combined with a rather high rate for people outside the UK preclude it. I wish you well, and good luck surving the Olympic mania this summer. I lived in Atlanta in 1996, and know what you all are about to go through.
