I have a 50 d .got it with the 18 200 zoom.

Initially I was very impressed but as I have progressed I have got more critical. The 18 mm end is awful for vignetting and the 200 not enough for my needs.

Don't get me wrong the images are not bad and those who don't know admire my shots.

however I then got the canon 100 macro and an L series 100 to 400 and the difference in quality is unbelievable .

The 50 d I am more than happy with .

I too read about the 50 d struggling to resolve detail .My opinion if I read every review and waited I would never have bought anything and never have captured the shots I have in the last year.

i have both the 40d and 50d and the biggest difference between them is the price everything else apart from the pixel count is nice but it won't make you a better photographer
