Ohh Chris, I am so sorry. I would help you if I could but my knowledge of layers is miniscule! have you tried searching on YouTube? I am guessing it would be a bit like the colour pop in as much as you would put one image on top of the other and then rub out the bits you want? Like I said this is only a guess though as I haven't tried it myself yet!

Hopefully if this thread is at the 'top' someone will read it and help you!!!

Well I'm in, I hope no one finds the offensive as that is not the intention, if they do or anyone thinks it is inappropriate then I will withdraw it.

6 entries(or is that 7 now?), on such a hard subject, though a disapointment is still not bad. Not everyone will have had the ability/equipment and the comp is still in its early days.....the site is quiet everywhere anyway so fingers croseed, it might pick up as the long dark cold evenings draw in!

Chris, even the weekly comp is dropping off.

Not sure what it is, maybe people are too busy or just don't want to go outdoors of late.

Found that sometimes you do need a break from things or they become a chore rather than a pleasure, I find that I have more time with the monthly ones but that is down to my work pattern.

Not sure how many techniques we can find for the monthly comp so maybe that will change over the months to come.

Anyway good to see that you made it in with the smoke pic, great topic and really enjoyed it. As said pitty that there were not a few more but I think that a lot of us enter more than one comp per week/month so maybe it is also down to which topic you fancy.

That's my thoughts on the subject anyway.

The reason I was wanting the techniques subject, is to give you time to learn and perfect. If techniques run dry, maybe we can replace it with a mini project....for example, as if you had to put together some shots for a restaurant menu or a supermarket add, that kind of thing. Just a thought.
