Thanks, looks like the site will be bombarded with complaints of "no one told us the galleries were closing, and now I've lost all my images" type of thing soon then.

If done properly, when announcing a topic, or post, it should also be sent out via email, so everyone see's it. That's how most forum app's work.

Suppose they could still do it, now you've drawn their attention to it???? Or am I my ever optimistic self again?

I will ask if we can send out a newsletter - everyone who is registered for those will get them (you're automatically regsitered when you sign up, unless you untick the box). As far as I know, people were still getting those - I used to get one every week anyway.

Amy, I opted out of the newsletters, but I think this is one of those things that everyone should be told about! (Not everyone is a regular on the forums.)

I've asked this before but I haven't seen an answer from staff...
Does this mean the forums are going to be so bandwidth intensive that users with slower internet connections will be excluded from the site again?

I seldom visit the galleries and haven't uploaded many images because the galleries take forever to load.
