Nuclear ambitions

Afternoon all

Got up early this morning in the hope for some mist across the Loire Valley. It wasn't happening where I needed to and so I had to think again about what to put in my image.

Now, normally I avoid things that can easily date an image or even people. However, today I went all nuclear.

My reasoning behind this image was that you have the glorious trees in the first two thirds of the image with the ugly power station above. A meeting of good and evil!

I love the Loire Valley, where abouts was this? Colours are lovely and I like how the trees line up.

It's above Candes St Martin. Below is the village, listed as one of the most beautiful in France. It is also where the Loire meets the Vienne.

This morning wasn't the best sunrise I've ever seen which is another reason the power plant went in.

Hi Jools

I know this wasn't your first choice of shot due to the weather conditions but for me even with the power station in the background the image lacks the punch it deserves .
I do like the way the tree line zig zags towards the camera but the soft serene colour and contrast doesn't do the scene justice .

Just my preference as always .

Thanks Mark. I'll take another look at it to see if I can add in something.

Although the mist I wanted wasn't there, there was definitely a low mist down in the trees as an hour later I was seeing it down in the woods.

i like it, i assume you used a telephoto to compress the trees and create the layers, I agree with mark, just a touch more contrast to bring out those lovely trees,

Well, yesterday I went back to the image and added in a curves layer to have more control over what I was doing.

I found the blackest point in the image and then made it black to give it a little oompf. I don't like going too far as it is pretty how I remember it.

Remember that there was a tint bit of low lying mist on the woodland floor, so that would soften things a bit.

Thanks for that. It's subtle enough but punchy enough
