Sold at last

Morning all

Had a nice surprise this morning from PhotoLibrary/ Getty Images in the form of a sale to a US magazine. No idea which mag but would love to know though.

Having slogged away for a year now with various articles and stock images done, it is nice to see the stock side starting to begin for me.

It's not easy trying to make it as a freelancer in the current climate!

Jools

PS Here is a rough edit of it.

Congratulations Jools. Another stunning image and well deserved. Let's hope that it leads to more.

Steve. Don't I recognize you from another site

Oddly enough, yesterday I got an email from one of the mags I've just started writing for. Seems that they would like me to do some more. Yes!

It's very welcome after the nonsense that happened the other day.

Hopefully, with the selling power of Getty behind what I do then I'd like to think it's just the start.

Getting into PhotoLibrary was not an easy task. I had to convince them that I wasn't going to give them just one submission but continue to do so on a regular basis.

Unlike Alamy, they were an edited collection where you were assigned someone who picked out the most saleable stuff. If you ever looked on the PL site then you would have seen many images by people such as Joe Cornish et al that don't do the regular rounds.

In any case. Long may it continue

Dammit - rumbled.

Interesting stuff Jools. My mag subs are due for review at th beginning of next year so may well take a look elsewhere to see what is about.

Will have a look at PL a little later.

Well, following on from what happened, I had an email from someone else over on "that" place. He said some VERY interesting things to me about his experiences as a contributor and they weren't good at all.

From what I can conclude, I'm best away from them.

Now, PhotoLibrary's site has disappeared and some of the images are available through Getty by going here www.gettyimages.co.uk/photolibrary. However, not everything is up yet as Getty is still in the process of migrating stuff.

When the takeover happened, there was a huge hassle with a lot of people because of the terms you had to sign under if you wanted to be with them.

After careful thought, I signed because of their name and also selling power. Others have decided not to because of varying reasons.

But you must remember that you must never put all of your eggs in one basket, which is why I am with a couple of other libraries.

Lastly, try finding the National Trust image library if you want to see some nice stuff. I sometimes use it for planning trips.
