Whilst scoping out a secret location for a landscape shot the following morning, I sat talking on the phone, my legs dangling off the edge of a jetty. Seeing movement I looked down to find this four foot grass snake swimming between my feet!. Scrabbling to get my telephoto lens I stepped on and destroyed my decent sunglasses! Fortunatley the snake re-appeared no less than nine times over the course of an hour allowing me to get this stunning shot. Comment and critique always welcome, thanks.
Ha that's true about the sunnies! Very lucky and gratefull to have the chance to shoot this, you could probably go looking for them for years and never get a chance like that. I don't have any wider shots worth looking at, they just didn't offer a decent composition. When shooting it I visualised this shot, a tight crop of its head with its tounge flicking out. It was a challenge to get it right with the glare on the water, the speed it was moving at, and staying far enough back from it to allow my 70-300 to focus! thanks for the comments folks.
