Photography in Prague

Anyone been and can recommend some nice places to visit - am taking my wife there for the weekend and know nothing about the city.

Garry,

Lovely place - You'll adore it. Unfortunately when I visited I had my first and only Canon camera which packed up (without me knowing) after about 30 images.

Several places not to be missed:

Charles Bridge
Prague Castle (and Cathedral)
Martyrs Square
Astronomical Clock
The Town Hall (The Nazis pulled down the wall in a fit of pique before they were driven out!)
Wencelas Square (actually a road)
Just off Martyrs Square is a fairy-tale like cathedral which dominates the town centre, but I can't remember the name of it and I don't know where my guide book is

And you must have tea & cakes at the Municipal Building at the top of Wencelas Square, it's a throw back to the Cafe Society of the 30's.

The food is good (and cheap) and the beer sublime.

I envy you.

Cheers Chris,

it's a surprise birthday treat for my wife (told her last night), it'll be my 3rd trip on a plane since we got married 25 years ago (don't do much foreign travel)

When I told her the first question she asked was "how many cameras are you taking?"

What she meant was, "Who is the trip for?"

Have a great time.

You're right Des. I forgot about that. It's the site of the oldest surviving synagogue in Europe, burial place of Rabbi Levi, home of the mythical Golem. The Pinkus synagogue is now a memorial to the Holocaust.

Garry, Your days will be full with so much to photograph and all crammed together in a pretty small city. People are very friendly (especially when they discover you're British) and most of the younger generation speak very good English.

Me too. Hopefully they'll be as good as the ones I missed
