I use to like squirrels but got chased up a hill by an angry one last year I am now very wary of them

When you put food down they will soon appear, no sweat. This time of year isn't good as there is plenty of food around. But come December they will be all around you.

We call these grey things vermin as they are endangering the red squirrel population

I know, but its called evolution..they do what their instincs tell them too. It's not their fault and isn't the point of the thread..this is a photo forum, so lets just stick to photos..leave the politics or nature to a politics or nature thread....

I just want a nice thread with nice squirrle pics....no debates, no arguments ..just photos...is this ok guys

Most squirrels here are all black. Red squirrels are present, but very disliked as they tend to be destructive and get into things more often. There are grey ones as well, but the vast majority are all black. I do not have an pictures at the moment, if I get a chance I will see if I can get any.

we have a grey in our garden most days (which winked at me once )
I will see if i can get a couple of shots of that one and a few of the ones i see in my local park.

I am not too far from freshfields either which has a red squirrel sanctuary.

No need for camo Chris and a tripod will prove very limiting. If you can't get fast enough shutter speeds just up your ISO a little. Try not to make any sudden movements. I set my camera on continuous shooting too so that I could take bursts of shots which means that you should get a few keepers. Once you have attracted them they will usually hang around a little to get the nuts out of the pods and eat them and, sometimes, even bury them for later like the squirrel in one of my pics.
