Giottos base plate loose fit?

I just purchased my giottos MTL9351B and MH5011 head. I can't seem to get the quick release base plate to fit the camera tightly? Am i doing something wrong? It has marking pointing to lens so i've tried placing the plate then tightening the screw this does not work its still loose. Then i tried just turning the whole plate this seems tighter but still can't get it tight enough. It seems like a rubber washer is missing or something. Any suggestions?

Has it got the rubber coating on the top of the plate?

You should be able to screw it tight with the flap up metal bit, or with a screw driver in the slot.

Yeah its got the rubber coating on the top. I think the thread is knackered. I phoned them yesterday to see if they have a parts library and send out a new screw. I don't want to send the whole thing back just for a little screw. They are phoning me back. Quality control is questionable the little pouch for the tools is starting to fray too. Thanks guys.

You shouldn't need to send anything back to them for that. When this happened to my tripod they just put a couple of new screws into the post and I received them within a day or so.

All they needed from me was to see this photo so they could tell precisely which part needed replacing.
