focus confirm ? EOS 7D

while i am able to focus confirm in manual with most of my lenses, i don't seem to be able to get it to work, with the majority of my FD lenses, is this because they have no electronics in them ? or am i doing something wrong ?

Yes, to different lens mount/electronics
No, to doing something wrong!

The FD converter will allow attachment of FD lenses but, like M42 lenses, you need to operate the lenses manually. If you want to focus to infinity, the converter should also have a lens which unfortunately affects image quality

Here's a quick rundown of capabilities Canon EOS to FD converters

thanks joe / when trying to drag yourself out of the filmage, i guess you doubt yourself, even if what you think makes sense, but i have 40 + fd lenses and a new EOS 7 D, with a single digital/ eos lens and rely on my lens converters, especially the 2 expensive one's with the central lens, for infinity focus, i had hoped focus confirm would come into play, as i have noticed a difference in image quality in my raw files

focus confirm

As the old FD lens had microprism and split image on board one does not need focus confirm.
