It all seems to be good news and the changes, especially to the galleries, will be a welcomed by many I'd imagine. I, for one, have always had trouble uploading images to my gallery to the point where I just gave up trying so even if they just manage to get it to work will be good enough for me.
I'm particularly looking forward to the new Nikon-specific publication - being a Nikon user it'll be refreshing seeing images, equipment tests, reviews etc dedicated to the brand. Good stuff.

Hi all,

Just to add to Stuart's announcement, I'll be here to help with the changeover too, so if you want to send any questions my way feel free.

I am on holiday next week but will aim to get back to you asap when I'm back.

Thanks,

Amy

Because we're building galleries into the forums, we won't need the existing galleries, and we'll be turning them off shortly. If they are your only on-line copies of those photographs, now would be a good time to move them.

Is there no way the photos can be 'transplanted' into the new system? I'm not too bothered about the photographs themselves, but the comments have, in some cases, huge (sentimental) value.

And what about the photos that are also in the POTY competition? Where will they go?

For the rest I'll just wait and see; it'll take some getting used to, but if life gets easier it can't be bad.

I think most people, just jump to the new messages and do not actually load the whole forum, many will miss it.

They will join the old DCM site galleries on a back up tape somewhere At the time we were told the old DCM galleries could not be migrated. Myself being an IT professional know that is an inaccurate statement. They could have been, it just depends on how much work you want to put into it.
