Yes, it's not a new idea by any means. Someone tried to market something similar in the early 70's - It wasn't successful. I suppose if you're out and about and you've forgotten your tripod and your monopod and your beanbag and you can't find anything or anyone to lean on it might be better than nothing, but ....

I think you're saying that if you've forgotten tripod, monopod and beanbag, chances are you forgot the steadepod too? Where's that wall?

If i forgot my tripod monopod or beanbag (porridge bag) or no wall to rest on, I'll just bump up the iso and not look like an idiot with a 5ft piece of string hanging from my camera.

I don't think it would support my 400mm F2.8 AIS lens, as it weighs 6kg.

No you need a second piece of string for that, tied to your head.
