SpyderLensCal

Over the past few months, a few visitors have been asking about the focusing of their lenses. I was just having a look at the Spyder site (as I was looking to calibrate my monitors) and saw this http://www.datacolor.eu/en/products/...cal/index.html

This is copied from the site:
SpyderLensCal™ provides a fast, reliable method of measuring the focus performance on your camera and lens combinations. It allows photographers to obtain razor-sharp focusing or check to see that their lenses are working at their peak performance...

Has anyone tried it? and if so what did you think?

I don't know if it's a new product and whether it's been reviewed anywhere, but I don't remember seeing one before. I used a piece of newspaper taped to a wall, when I was doing my testing.

I don't work for the company, and don't have any financial gain from mentioning this device, but I thought some people might find it interesting. Especially as we will soon start to be asked what we would like for Christmas :-)

Regards

Nick

I am pretty sure it was reviewed in photo plus magazine sometime ago and seem to remember it got a favourible review.

Of course it will only be useful to anyone that supports micro adjustment or are prepared to pay to get their lenses calibrated, have to say that will be going on my Xmas list

I guess if you feel a need to spend money, that's fine.

Amateur Photographer produced a free one earlier this year. I'm sure you'll find it for download on their website, then just print it off, cut it out, glue it together - 49 Euros saved that you can then spend on a filter, or a load of Big Mac's, or something - anything!
