Selling gear?

Hi Guys

unfortunatly my wife and i are seperating due to an affair that she had with an ex. I'm moving out and need some extra money to help rebuild my life. She has suggested that i sell my camera and gear!!

the money would come in handy but I dont want to give up a hobbie that i love as i need something to focus on when i move out.

Any ideas what I should do?

Cheers
John

First off, I'm sorry for your situation, and I hope it all pans out in the end for you. Don't sell your gear though John unless it is the last resort mate.

When people go through stuff like this they do need an anchor to keep them grounded and if nothing else, to have a distraction from the pain. Your photography, which clearly you are passionate about, could be that hook.

Take care.

Dude, really sorry to hear this. Completely agree with Paul though. If you're as passionate about photography as I am, I'd look to sacrifice a lot of other stuff before my photo gear. It may sound cheesy, but the peacefulness of photography may be a really good healer for you.

Hope it all works out for the best

Really sorry to hear that a trully horrible situation to be in.

I am with the others if you are passionate about the photography then it is a good release, whilst second hand gear can go for good money on ebay by the time you have paid the seller fees etc you will feel short changed as for selling it to local dealers you will get even less. I can just about stomach selling gear for an upgrade as after all I am getting something new.

So as Dan say's "Last Resort".

Sorry about the bad news.

Keep your gear as hobbies can help you throught the pain. It's better to be out doing something you enjoy rather than sitting at home brooding.

That's a very sad thing to happen, I totally know how it feels, I'd suggest selling all of her fave things first. But seriously you've got to keep something you enjoy otherwise it's too easy to get really down about stuff. And if it's your hobby you deserve to keep all of your equipment and continue with it - you'll definately regret it later because you'll just end up buying it for more money again later. Take care and KEEP your stuff....

Oh, I feel the pain. But, don't sell your kit, you'll get nothing for it and will have to spend a fortune later replacing it. Anyway, if she did the evil deed why should your finances suffer? Tell her to go and sponge off the ex and leave you with your stuff.

would just like to echo what everybody else has said, splitting up is very painful and its all too easy to sell everything but have a good hard think as photography could help you get through your sad times and remember there is always light at the end may not seem like it now but chin up mate
