Thats really annoying I have just cancelled my DCM subscription and renewed it through the Zinio electronic magazine service, seems that you don't get the VIP section in those even though I have subscribed for a year so much for saving trees grrrrrrrr.

Thanks again to everybody for their congratulations and lovely comments and special thanks to cutter, markgozz, paradise lost, samstones, and Stars for voting for me. All the entries were a great interpretation of the theme. It was hard to choose, but my vote went to Markulous and that stunning portrait of the dog. I just thought it was superb. A really striking pose and the white fur against the darker background really brought the subject out. And of course those beautiful eyes.

Up
kezpock's 'chain' - strong composition, nice angles and unusual colour pop. I liked the different textures and the shadows captured on the stone. I must admit, I did like your original with the blue and rust together. But I understand that you could only choose one. Interesting shot.

Down
Wavemachine's 'It's for you!!' - great subject to POP!, really bold and really british . I may have used those strong leading lines to lead you to the telephone box, but not allowing the box to get too small in the photo. Maybe I would have brought those clouds out a touch more. Good idea though

Other favourites were kentlass (love those little shorts!), pea24 (very creative, as usual ) and DD's fire bucket's (really strong comp)

I've got an idea for the next monthly comp. And hope to be posting it within the next couple of days. I just want to do a bit of surfing on the net to get some good examples and make sure that it's not too hard!

Thanks for a great theme kerbside. And well done to everyone on producing some excellent shots.

Thanks for the crit deena I did think of pulling back a bit and putting the phone box in the distance but decided I wanted the frame dominated by the red box I do see what you are saying though, I think maybe I should of returned with my DSLR and a zoom lens rather than walking backward and forwards with a phone camera

Congratulations deena it really was a winning image even without the colour pop theme I loved it , it has a beautiful atmosphere to it with great texture and a depth that draws you in .

Well done

Mark

Been away for a bit with work and being really busy so sorry I haven't got to do my ups and downs before now.....better late than never though!

Up - Kentlass I thought that this was a good idea for colour pop as red really suits the technique. I think I'd have liked it if the background was even more out of focus but even so it doesn't detract from the main focal point which is rather cheeky

Down - Kezpock A simple but effective idea and clearly a lot of work had gone into colour popping the chain. Definitely the right decision to leave the paint on the concrete as it is.

It was a good competition theme which I enjoyed having a go at and I'm looking forward to the next monthly theme.
