Don't use filters (other than CP and very occasional ND Fader - and even then, blended shots) - nor do I use Lightroom.

Prefer to blend bracketted shots (so avoiding any burned highlights - but also avoiding clipped shadows) - far more control as I can effectively grad any part of the frame.

Just in case anyone wants to know what I'm talking about and doesn't have Lightroom etc. I've made a video of what I mean. No sound.

Great video, I've done a bit of editing in Lightroom with mixed success, it was good to see how someone else with more experience uses it. It'd be even better if you'd added a voice over. Can you do some more Pleeease.

I agree. I really enjoyed watching that video. I only know a few basic tweaks in LR and edit my shots on what I 'see' rather than knowing what each tool/slider can do. Thanks Jimmy

I have a grad, but never use it, I've always used the Gradient tool in either Lightroom or CS, but prefrerably Lightroom. Having said that Lightroom is now rarely used as IMO Raw Therapee blows ACR out of the water and it's free.

As requested a video of how I apply an ND grad effect to my images and finish off the process in PSE10. It's a bit rough so apologies ...

Always try to get it right in camera, the only thing i do in Photoshop is, when the grads arent strong enough to balance things, i try to minimise the pp i do, Just prefer it how i do it, although paul you do get the results you want,
