Please fix the gallery so we can link images!

Seriously, every single user who visits this site has monumental problems linking to the images they upload in the gallery. We spend more time guiding them how to post a picture than we do giving them constructive critique on their photography.

I can't see any reason why the gallery page is built the way it is. There's a transparent image which sits over the top of the image, and it serves no purpose other than a really flimsy method of stopping people from copying an image (which they can get to eventually regardless).

Please just edit the page code, find this:

Code:
<img src="http://www.photoradar.com/sites/all/themes/photoradar/media/images/transpx.gif" height="380" alt="Tarn Hows II" title="Tarn Hows II" class="rise">
<div class="sink" style="background-image: url('http://www.photoradar.com/files/imagecache/con_full_user_photo/photos/users/mattuk/dsc0383-edit.jpg'); height: 380px;"></div>
And change it to this:

Code:
<img src="http://www.photoradar.com/files/imagecache/con_full_user_photo/photos/users/******" height="380" alt="*******" title="*******" class="rise"></div>
Replacing the stars with whatever the dynamically generated code is. Or give me admin access for 5 minutes and I'll fix it!

The best and simplest solution would be to click the check box to ALLOW UPLOADS TO THE FORUM. That way they could post them directly.

Matt,

You might be better off posting this on the PhotoRadar Facebook page, as I'm not sure if anyone from Future comes into the forum any more :-)

Yes, good point. The Facebook page has interaction several times per day. Their own site....well if it was not for Carly (who is technically not working for the site but for PhotoPlus) we would not see anything. I am not sure the last time I have seen the actual editor here.

I am not on FaceBook, and I don't want to be, but, it seems people are forced in that direction! Just like everyone is now supposed to have Internet acces. Life for those who haven't, seems unliveable!

How very true and it's the same with twitter.

Matt, I've mentioned this so many times I've given up.

Also mentioned that the very images people are likely to steal are the full size ones, they don't have the transparent overlay on them. It's on the intermediate images, which is pointless. Not once has Marcus or any one else responded to this issue.

As for the fix. I'm betting there's a option to turn it off already built in to the gallery admin panel. they just need to use it.

Bravo guys,
I've given up trying to post images from the gallery.
I lack the technical skills to fix it, but Matt seems to have an answer. I'm not on Twitter, Facebook or any of these social network sites, but if you can somehow get a conduit to the people who can fix this, then go for it.

You see this soooo many times and it's happening EVERYWHERE, and like you all I'm also fed up with it. This is the main reason why Ii left the other forum that I was with, you never saw any of the editorial staff on the site. Yes at the start they were there and were interacting with the forum members as a few of your members here will vouch for(as they too were members), but then they started playing about with the site and changing things. The members got sick of this and not being able to log in to the forum because of the changes, so had to re-invent themselves 2or3 times and got that fed up,just started drifting away. In the end it was only 4 or 5 of us that were trying to keep the site going. Then we noticed that the staff of the mag were not visiting alot and then not at all, it was only then that we discovered that they had started up a face book site as it was mentioned in the mag. There was no memtion of this in the forum especially to its regular members and now most if not all of its new members are going directly to face book and bypassing the forum and to make matters worse, I don't even think that the forum site is even mentioned in the mag anymore, just the face book page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TOTALLY DISCUSSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stargate that is a good point. One does have to ask, why are they giving so much attention to the Facebook page and not their own website.

Perhaps an email to someone higher up the food chain at Future is in order.
