Dragons Den Photography project!

Hi!
i'm doing a dragons den project at college and would like to do it based around photography so i was just wondering if people could say what problems they encounter whilst taking part in photography, as then i could come up with ideas to solve these problems for my project..

so any comments, ideas would be great just to see what fellow photographers think would be a great addition to the world of photography gadgets or something which would be useful to photographers!

Thanks in advance!!

Kris

i think if you could come up with a produce that would aid photographers that isn't already on the market or patented your worries would be over

Have a look through the forum. People post their problems here so there must be hundreds to choose from.

Here's one for you:

Currently filters sit on the end of a lens, and are subject to either filter holders or screw-in thread sizes - making it a nightmare if you change lenses or want to use multiple filters stacked, and is expensive, considering the size the glass needs to be. It also adds more layers that you need to keep dust-free.

So consider an area that sits between the sensor and the rear-element of the lens, with slots allowing for filters (much smaller in size) to be inserted into. You get a camera with interchangeable filters that don't care what lens is on the front.

Sure there's problems, such as:

- Keeping dust out of this internal area
- Vertical movement for ND grads
- Circular movement for CPLs

But these can be easily overcome.

I'd patent it if I thought any manufacturer would care!

You could just persuade lens manufacturers to fit a filter slot to the rear of every lens, like they do in large telephoto lenses for instance.

But that wouldn't allow for multiple filters, as it would move the elements away from the body

So basically like a decent extension tube (double ended) with all the electronics, but with filter slots?

They are working on lenses that can change their shape. They also have materials that by applying a current can change their colours or be clear. Putting these together it is possible a lens could be built that had filters built in, so only applying a different current would allow a UV filter to become a warm-up filter etcetc.

Just make the slot bigger, if you can design room for one filter I'm sure you can design room for as many as required.

Or make a new thinner filter system.

Good luck getting all of the lens makers to change their lens range to include this
