Photographing Magazines

Hello all,

First post on here but any help would be great.

I'm working with a couple of graphic designers this weekend to photograph some of there magazine and booklet work and am hoping to figure out a way of lighting them so they have a 'product photography look' but without glare or reflections as there are on a glossy paper.

Any tips?

Cheers,

Joe

I just photographed a couple of DVDs for ebay which still have the cellophane wrapper on.

I did them in a light tent, (only because I was photographing old cameras so thought I'd do the DVDs too.

I used 2 flashguns at about 45 degrees to the side outside the lightbox but had to make sure the DVDs were square on to the camera otherwise if they were at an angle I got lots of glare.

I don't suppose you need to use flashguns or a light tent at all, just make sure any light source is at an angle to the magazine, a tripod will probably help if the office isn't very bright.
