I really enjoy reading Digital Camera each month and the advice is usually top notch.

I must take exception with the advice to bait wild animals to get their photograph. It is simply bad for the animals and teaches them people are a food source. It is much better for the animals if one learns their habitat and habits to increase the potential for better photos.

Feeding them simply takes the "wild" out of wildlife.

I'd agree with not feeding them in a rural environment. However, in an urban area are they not already used to people feeding them, whether it be purposefully e.g. birdtables or not so e.g. unprotected bin bags?

I live in a city and occasionally I'll get squirrels in my garden. I've fed them unshelled peanuts and have been able to get some good close-up pictures.
