Congratulations to Jimmy! You got my vote. Wonderful interpretation of the theme. Great bw conversion. Well done! My 2nd favourite was 'Roll of the Dice'. Great motion blur and great subject.

Above
Nigel's 'Square with Padlock': great find, loved the shallow dof which really draws your eye into the square. I know you were thinking about cropping the right hand side off and I think it would have been less of a distraction. But overall a good shot. I thought the cobwebs were an added bonus

Below
Eysha's 'Little Boxes': I loved the subject, the box looks beautiful. But I just thought it looked a little 2 dimensional. I would have liked to have seen the box/boxes from a different angle to give it that 3rd dimension. Nice idea though.

Thank you Nigel for your crit, and thanks Reinardina for your nice comments (good luck with the course).
And a big thank you to GUY1970 who voted for me!!! Cheers

Congrats to jimmyosram on the win, and thanks for a really challenging theme this weekend!

I'm under horrible time pressure right now, so will do the ups and downs sometime over the weekend.

My vote went to jimmyosram's Baltic Staircase - it was a great interpretation of the theme, and the combination of repeating squares in the image, the detail in the staircase, the geat dof and the b&w conversion all combined to elicit a "Wow!" the first time I saw it. A great win, Paul. And thanks for voting for my pic; one day I hope to be as good as you.

Kerbside's The Old Courthouse - a terrific shot, and also a great interpretation of the theme. I liked the way the spuares in the door played off the rectangular shape of the doorway itself, the doors and the steps. However, it felt a little overprocessed to me - the colours seemed a little too vibrant given how battered the wood at the bottom of the door is.

TwinnieE's Crackers Light also caught my eye - the light shining through the cracker was striking. Welcome to the contest, TwinnieE - hope we see lots more entries from you

Mark's Keyboard was also great, but there was just too much Photoshopping for my liking. I'm a bit of a square when it comes to these things!
