Back on topic. The other Chris added some stuff from earlier in this thread. I'll say this: Take control of your camera. You'll get little sympathy complaining that a shot's out of focus and then saying you don't know what the camera focussed on. Or if it did focus at all. Also, clean your sensor. I can see muck on your low resolution f/10 skies, and just a bit of processing shows more. Do it before you head north.

Oh, I remember. Try shots with & without the UV filter, see if you like either better. I think the filter should make the edges worse, which might be what you were complaining about.

Nah I won't be doing that because I know where and how many miles it is from where I usually go on holiday.

Two photos added to my Flickr Photostream.

File names: LochLinnhe_TEST01 and LochLeven_TEST01

Again un-processed.

What exactly is the problem, and why do you think it's a problem?

What are your test shots supposed to show? And why haven't you taken the newspaper shots people have suggesred several times?

I have done the newspaper shots but I just haven't got round to putting them on here yet. And they are poor photos so I'll have to do them again. I'll have to do them again WHEN I have the chance.

the trouble is you are posting shots up which are practically useless to test whether your lens is focusing correctly, there is such a great range of focal distance and variation in subject matter and detail that it is impossible to tell what is in focus, what should be in focus and what you were focusing on.

You really need to post some shots which actually do show clearly whether something is in focus or not, like the newspaper suggestions mentioned some weeks ago

Think I'll duck out of this one before it gets any weirder...
