Was going to enter this, seeing as I had some free time tonight, but then I read the brief properly.....DOH!.....

Will try again Sunday, got the plan of the weekends' schedule from my bestman and we are having a relaxing pub lunch on Sunday after a Saturday gunho-ing, so will have time after to cobble something together....

Cracking shot, Matthew. It's a real pity that the specs disqualify it... love the mood you've created and the effects of the lighting.

I done that naughty thing of just reading the title and not the content......to my downfall!.....

Having said that though, I will keep it in my portfolio. The "warm" lighting was created by adding an orange filter in processing.....

Thanks for the info, Matthew.

What software do you use to process?

My antiquated version of Photoshop - PS6 - doesn't support RAW or do any of the automagic things found in newer versions.

A few weeks ago I was playing around with the camera trying different aperture settings and lighting effects, and came up with this very boring still life which includes glass:

But as you can see it's not a serious contender for any awards, anywhere.

Matt really sorry, its ironic because it was you that the specs ban was put in place.
I knew you would take a different slant on the theme because of you wit and imagnation, however you do have a glass in shot and in my mind the ban would have been specs on their own. i dont know what anyone else thinks but I would be ok at letting in on the grounds of the glass being there.
Its a great shot

a little crit, get the background further away and use a small app, perhaps put something underneath that would give you a reflection of the bottle and glass, and aviod shadows by putting white reflectors around the subject to fill the shadows. Hope this helps

You're the boss Mark (at least in this week's comp), so you decide.
To me it looks perfectly acceptable, as it has a glass in as well. Can't be Matthew's though, as it is not empty!
