Hi Jimmy,

The pics are looking really good. I think I might invest in a 10 stop ND now. Based on the photos you have taken so far would you recommend the Heliopan?

I need to decide of my wide angle lens first as the two I am looking at have a different filter size. Its either your 2.8 11-16 or the f3.5 Sigma 10-20. Cant make my mind up. The Sigma has a 82mm filter thread which could get expensive!

Dave

Hi Dave, as I have only had the Tokina I can only really talk about that lens. It's a great lens and very fast too. only thing to watch with it is lens flare is a very slight problem with it. Now this may be the same for other WA lenses so don't take the comment on it's own. It has a 77mm thread and the Heliopan cost £95.00. The filter I think (again, have nothing to compare it to) is excellent.

Day 4 in the 10 stopper house....

Came away with some interesting shots from Bamburgh. I had to, of course get the 10 stop out. I found it quite difficult to keep the tripod from sinking so I did the old rocks under the legs trick and it helped. It was also very windy as you can hear on this brief video.

Anyway, this shot was a challenge with direct sun again, wind, tide lapping up me wellies, but quite pleased with the result.

Exif data
Camera Canon EOS 60D
Exposure 45 secs
Aperture f/16.0
Focal Length 11 mm
ISO Speed 100

Lovely shot with great colours. Really makes me want to be there, Jimmy. Btw, have you seen my first few proper attempts at HDR. Got one posted up in the critique section.

I have decided not to get the wide angle at the moment as money is a bit tight. So I'm going to buy a 67mm B&W 10 stop for my Canon 18-135. I will let you know how I get on!

Ive bought a Sigma 10-20mm, and also got a lee foundation kit. So im now in the market for a 10 stop filter, any recommendations where to get 1 for a decent price as my purchases have cost me a bit as you could imagine.

I'd preferably want to go for the slot in and not the screw on type.

For a budget, try a Kood or Formatt/HiTech.
