VGA, DVI or HDMI?

Hi!

Recently purchased a lovely new Dell 24 inch ST2420L for my Photoshop picture editing with CS5.

It has VGA, DVI and HDMI sockets available, but only came with a VGA cable.

My question is what is the better route to take with Photoshop editing? VGA, DVI & HDMI?

Suppose I should mention that my pc/desktop doesnt have a HDMI socket, but i think that can be easily fixed?

Thanks!

vga is the standard analogue connection which has been used for donkeys years. dvi & hdmi are digital So are a better option.

DVI and HDMI will produce pretty much the same image, they are compatible. You can use a HDMI to DVI or a DVI to HDMI adapter.

If you only have VGA, you are stuck, you cannot easily convert VGA to DVI (but you can DVI to VGA). a DVI image is much better than VGA.

Your option is to get a new video card. These can be had quite cheaply and are very easy to install. If that freaks you out, they will probably install it where ever you purchase it.

Shouldn't make much difference using Photoshop by staying with VGA, as the other only come into their own with video.

I would disagree, to a point. When I switched from VGA to DVI (nothing else changed, just the cable and input on the same monitor) my overall image quality was much better.
