Yes, to both. The Nikon D3 battery will give about 800 shots on one charge with very little drain on the battery by leaving the camera switched on. The batteries in the MC-36 last over a year with the display on.

Wow, that's impressive. I must say that the Canon battery in my 60D does really well. Probably not quite as well as yours.
