I like the second image better- I think it's because the dividing of the houses is directly centre, the composition seems for balanced. I only wish he was facing the other way though- I don't know why, I feels as if that would have made a better image!

I like the fact you've made them black and white- the bunting along the buildings seems like it would have been too overpowering in the picture otherwise.

The second image is the better of the two but if the man was facing the other way ie walking into the picture and not out of it it may feel a bit more comfortable IMO
