Is that snow or Infra Red? Intrigued by how that was achieved, whatever it was.

Infrared Geoff, with a little judicious lightroom work.

Ah right - time and time again I see things that I like a lot, to find that it's gone through Lightroom..... I think I'm going to have to get it for myself. (I had a trial with LR2 once and hardly got around to doing anything with it, but that rules me out from having another trial.... I think - perhaps Adobe might let me have a go with LR3).

The other side to it is that I write quite a few tutorials for our local Photo Club's website and, when it comes to software, I'm finding less and less people are getting Elements or CS and more of them, even beginners, are going straight to Lightroom..... and achieving some good results even with little knowledge.

I find L/room gives me most of what I want. Converting from colour to B+W is simple and from there on in it's relatively easy.

However I think you need a solid grounding in darkroom techniques, knowing what's needed and where and how to achieve it. The other plus is that digital B+W imaging saves all those basketfulls of waste photographic paper that used to be the norm in the old days.

I particularly like the printing facility that L/room has, once you have the image the way you want it and your printer correctly set up with the correct ICC profile for the paper you are using, the print 99% matches the screen image.

Right - well, it's on my shopping list - though it means I'll have to push that 55mm Macro lens down the list a bit.
