Bag for Nikon D3100 + 18-200 lens

Hi,
Does anyone have a bag recommendation for a Nikon D3100 plus Nikkor 18-200mm lens?

I'm going to borneo and I'm looking for something to just carry the camera so it's as light as possible when I go into the jungle. When I'm travelling I'll just have the charger elsewhere in my luggage. I don't really want a ruck sack.

Thanks in advance

Al

I suggest you pop into Jessops, or one of the other camera shops and see what's on offer. If you're just carrying the D3100 and 18-200mm, that is not a huge combination and there's loads of cases that will take that comfortably. Always best to look and feel a bag to see if you'll be comfortable with it. I'm prepared to bet that 50% of readers who bought a bag on-line purely on the basis of the spec and pictures, will have bought something else within a year - know I did!

If its just the D3100 and 18-200mm lens, then you'd probably be suited to either the Lowepro Slingshot 202AW or the Kata 3N1-20. Of the two I favour the Kata, mainly because you can use the straps in a variety of ways. I had the 200AW and gave it to a friend as I received the 300AW as a birthday gift last year. I also found the slingshot bags when fully loaded with kit, would make your shoulder ache if you had to carry it for any long period of time.

If you wanted to future proof yourself, for future lens and sundry items, then I'd suggest you go for the larger models like the 3N1-30.

If you subscribe to practical photographer magazine at the moment there gift is a Lowepro messenger shoulder bag. Worth considering.
