Reasoning:- in a 31 day month you are saying that we have our entries in 4 days before the end of the month (28th) and that the new topic will be set onthe last day of the month (31st), for he following month.

This gives a 2 day window for setting the poll (not sure how many will be able to enter, will it still be 30) casting votes, getting a winner and setting a new topic. Unless you mean 4 clear days between the last day of the month and the entries to be in, this will be the 26th in a 31 day month.

Some thought required on the time scales otherwise great.

I would say the theme posted at the latest by the last day of the month.

We could do a 20 day month. Entries in by 20th of the month, vote for 5 days to 25th, and that would give the winner a few days to come up with an idea to be posted no later than the last day, but preferably by 28th we say (of course February will be an issue!)

We can tweak this if we feel less time is needed, and have entries later, or longer voting.

Or let the months 'overlap.'

Post the September and October challenge at the same time; give the whole of September to practice; upload photos in the last part of the month and reserve the first ten days of the next month (October) for the poll, voting and setting out the next challenge.

That next challenge would then of course be for November. This would give everyone plenty of time.

I would be up for this, good idea Chris!

I often cannot enter the weekend competition as I have been too busy so having a longer period would be good and give more opportunity to learn new techniques. I am going on holiday on August 31st so I am keeping my fingers crossed for the first topic to be announced before then. Otherwise I will have my usual problem of not having time to do it

I learnt a lot doing last weeks weekly competition even though I couldn't enter. I thought entries had to be submitted by 12 noon BST? When I tried to submit it had already been closed Still it was a worthwhile exercise
