Monthly competition

Is anyone interested in doing a monthly competition? We have the weekly one here already where the winner chooses the them for the next week, which could be anything at all.

I started a thread in the general discussions about learning a new skill a week which I soon realised was way too ambitious. So I have had the idea of combining a new skill a month with a competition. Each month, the theme would be a photographic skill, and once announced, you have till the end of the month to learn the skill and post a photo. Skillls could range from panning, freezing action shots, post processing skills, monochrome, portraits, stacking, macro, depthof field etc etc etc.

In the chat thread we can discuss the problems we are having with the technique, share tips and ask/answer questions. By month end, we will have not only increased our knowledge, we will have produced a cracking shot.

Please let me know if anyone is interested and if so, I can set the ball rolling for September. After that, like in the weekly competition, the winner picks the skill for the next month.

What is there to loose?

Cheers and thanks for reading this. PM me or post a reply here if you think it's a good idea.

Sounds like a great idea DD provided it concentrates on photographic technique as after all if you want a monthly challenge there is always the DCM Mission each month.

I will certainly be up for that.

With regards to "What is there to loose?" I initialy though my sanity but thinking about it that is long gone

Great idea, it also gives you time to think and plan.

Sounds like we have a plan then. Will be nice to have the time to leare or revisit skills, plan your shot and have time for PP too. OK, how will we pick the 1st theme (or shall I do the honours) and shall I ask a moderator to sticky this thread?

Yep, sounds good as i for one find it hard some weeks to get a weekly one in (photo) so monthly would give more planning time etc:
As the weekly comp, set some dates and away we go, i presume.

As long as I can handle the 'task.'

Sounds good. Would the idea be something more complex, that would require more thought and planning? This works for me as I have more time during the week than the weekend to take photos.
