Nice minimal shot, but because of its minimalistic nature the bench needs to be more central, I dont think this will harm the shot as there is enough grass to lose in the foreground which isnt adding to the photo.

Hi Dan,

My first impression is that the image is under exposed and could definitely benefit with some brightening. Personally, I would have aimed for a more symmetrical position on the bench, as its the main focal point of the image and the rest is very minimalistic. The bench is also out of alignment with the horizon and the cliff face falls away on the left hand side, which kind of unbalances it.

I also think that its current crop is too big. The foreground does nothing to add to the scene, with the flecks of chalk distracting the eye, as well as the rogue carrier bag on the left. There is also some weird stuff going on, on the horizon.

I had a quick play in photoshop, fixing the above (although could still do with a bit of an exposure increase) and also experimented with a split tone of blue/yellow to give it a slightly eerie feel.

Thanks guys, the older one that was on here had a dodgy horizon, i sorted that out, i assume during you writing the post, lol, The cliif was difficult as it runs down hill and things, but i see what youve done, so ill try to correct it, And the bench does actually slope.(good that) lol,

On my monitor the exposure looks fine, imo the one youve done is over exposed lost some of the detail in the sky, ill have a play around see what i can come up with,

Dan

I like the idea behind this shot. Im not sure about the 'square' crop though. I think a pano/letterbox crop would suit the subject better. Nice shot.
