No probs to those who thought I was Canon - I could have made it clearer in my first post!

And yes please James, that would be fantastic!

Here you go Matt:

D7000 review, but I guess you'll already know what you think of it!

He doesn't appear to have done the 500mm review yet, but I know its in progress... as is one for the 600mm I think!

Thanks James. I see he's reviewing the 150-500mm Sigma, whereas my research indicated that the 50-500mm was actually better. It will be interesting to hear his thoughts, as the D7000 review was great.

Interesting to note that he didn't mention the lack of an articulated screen, which is something DC really rated the D7000 down for.

Sold my canon 100-400 lens last week because I just felt it was too slow. It will be interesting to see what you think of the Sigma when you get it because I am looking at getting the Sigma 300mm 2.8 lens when I've saved up a bit.

Sorry Matt, I didn't see the detail of the lens he was reviewing, just the top end 500mm. My bad!

It might just be me, but personally I don't get the need for an articulated screen.... Maybe it might encourage more creative shooting, but I just use the perfectly adequate and purpose designed viewfinder... call me old fashioned! It does sound like the D7000 was slated for all the wrong reasons, and the good things were missed?

It's a bit weighty at 2.4 kg, almost like carrying two and a half bags of sugar.

That seemed to be the general feeling around here too

Thanks for that, it sounds heavy lol. Just done some more research and it seems people are saying the Sigma 120-300mm 2.8 is a better buy and sharper lens anyway. Actually, Matt that is a lens worth looking at yourself, it will be faster than the one you are looking at, at present, and although a bit more pricey, in the long run you would be glad of the faster lens.

The Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 weighs more at 2.6kg plus the weight of you camera takes it over 3kg.

Thanks Karen. Considering I'm after around 500mm focal range, would the 120-300mm with a 1.4x extender still beat the quality (if not quite the range) of the 50-500mm?
