Question keeping dry

Hi all, just joined and very much enjoying the helpful comments in the forum.
I am off to Costa Rica on the 14th, and would like any advice on keeping my canon 1000d dry in the humidity that I shall encounter, particulary in the cloud forest.
thanks in advance Keith

I've always used ziplock type plastic sandwich bags (cut hole, poke lens through and hold with elastic bands) - cheap, cheerful but effective (although take care if water does get inside and you carry it in the sun - will get very humid inside). And I carry a chamois leather to mop up any actual water drops

Welcome Keith

Please post your pics from Costa when you get back.

As for the camera - yup, what Markulous said. You can but 'proper' protection (see ebay) but I'm sure you'll be fine following M's advice.

Have you made a 'don't forget' check list; spare batteries, charger, spare card, cleaning kit etc?

Thanks for the advice

Managed to get a couple of rainsleeves for the camera, but did not use them as the weather on our visit to the cloud forest was unusually warm and cloud free although Im sure our weather will demand their use at some time.
Thanks for the help and I shall post a few photo's as soon as I get a chance

You can pick up some great point and shoot whether proof digital cameras these days and Fujifilm have just brought out the XP30 which can basically handle any environment you throw at it and in addition it also has a scratch proof and toughened LCD screen. I don't know if it will suit your needs but just an idea.
