Gallery Catagories

Is it possible to have the available catagories moved below the photographs themselves. Its very distracting to look through all the available catagories, or perhaps have them to one side similar to http://www.photoanswers.co.uk ?

Yes, this is something we'll definitely be looking to change for the launch.
Thanks
Matt

Question Categories

Not sure if I have missed something.
I see that user's photographs can be viewed by selecting a category, e.g. landscape, portrait etc. Yet I don't see a way for uploading members to deem which category they want the image to appear. Is that being decided by PR on receipt of the image?

Hi there,

This is decided by the tags you give your images. I hope this helps.

Image Tags

Whilst tagging some of my photos, I got an error message saying

"You must only submit a maximum of five tags per photo."

Can this be expanded upon or is there a reason for this limit?

Question

Thank you....much clearer now.
Presumably you can feature an image in more than one category by using up more tags?
e.g. portrait, people.
Trouble is, we only seem to be able to use up to 5 tags. If some of that tag allocation is being used just to asign a category, that leaves only a few for actually putting more descriptive tags about that particular image.

Suggestion:
Couldn't we have a pull down menu on the upload page of popular categories and not use the tagging system to do so?

Hi borichar,

Thank you for your comments, we'll look at how the tagging system works and if we can make any changes to this and get back to you.

categories

also find the multiple categories very distracting. I use IE explorer and Firefox and find I can't select any of the multiple subcategories to narrow down the number of images in the gallery. Macro has 41 categories, but I can't select any of them to narrow down the # images

This is a bug, unfortunately, but it's one that we're aware of and are working to solve as quickly as possible.

Cheers,
Thomas

Amy
This is how I see it.
Looks like there will be millions of tags very soon!!!!!!,my eyes hurt just sifting through what's there already what happens when the gallery opens up?. Chaos I suspect! unless you just keep to categories. These things must be 1.kept simple 2 Speed of use. at this rate the gallery is going backwards not forwards, What ever is wrong with Landscapes.
Landscapes B&W. Portraits. Portraits B&W ec't. Seems to me a problem is trying to be solved by creating another bigger slower problem. We all know what will happen, members wont bother, must I remind you we are photographers 1st and computer anoraks 2nd'ly. LOL.
