Question Polarising Filter for Wide Angle Lens?

I've just bought myself a Sigma 10-20mm f4 and need to get myself a polarising filter but don't know anything about them. I've had a read in other threads and although the subject is talked about, other than the Kood 58mm Circular Polariser, none have actually been recommened in name and I don't really know what the diferences are.

Could anyone help please?

Thanks in advance.

I've got the f3.5 of that lens. Assuming it's the same diameter, it's an 82mm thread. So you can either get an 82mm circular polariser, or you can go for the Lee filter set and get the 105mm filter plus adapter ring. Either way, expect to pay over £150

Never used Hama, but this looks like a good buy, and has good reviews.

Wow. thanks Matt.

Can you recommend an 82mm circular polariser? I don't really want to be paying over £150!

If I knew one, I'd buy it myself

I went the Lee filter route, as I want to use a CP in conjunction with a ten stop ND. I've yet to find the 105mm CP for a decent price, even second hand.

I forgot to mention - if you go for the 82mm screw filter, you need to get a slim fit version to avoid vignetting a 10mm. And guess what. That costs more of course

The Hama filter Jediboy posted isn't slim fit, though Hama are a decent brand. There are some 82mm CPs on eBay, but from unknown brands. I personally would rather get a decent one. No point I having a £500 lens with a £40 filter on it

Yeah - it's a shame the Sigma lens is such an awkward thread size

Actually, 82mm CPs are around £75 by the looks of things. It's he Lee 105mm that's £150+

Sorry if I mislead you

Make sure you get a circular one, not a linear polariser. Linear ones don't work with digital camera's auto focus system

Amazon, where i bought the lens from says filter size is 77mm and in the 'Customers who bought this item also bought' bit suggests this filter. Thoughts?!

Check your lens. The 4-5.6 has a 77mm thread. It will tell you on the lens and will be marked with a 0 with a line through it. You will want a low profile one to avoid vignetting but they don't come cheap.
